New LeakProtect Essential offering completes Asurion's three-tier program, giving insurance carriers a more flexible way to serve a broader range of policyholders

Today, Asurion announced the addition of LeakProtect Essential to its managed water loss prevention program for insurance carriers, completing a three-tier lineup designed to serve a broader range of homes and protection needs, from monitoring and alerts to automatic shutoff.

Water damage can be one of the most disruptive and costly problems a homeowner faces, and it often starts with an unexpected leak inside the home rather than a major weather event. Catching those leaks early – or stopping the flow of water automatically – can help prevent a small problem from becoming a significant loss while giving homeowners greater peace of mind.

For carriers, the expanded lineup delivers a single managed program spanning a range of home and protection needs. Rather than simply providing the technology, Asurion manages the experience end to end – from identifying the optimal device and coordinating professional installation to monitoring, alert triage and ongoing support.

A water loss prevention solution for more homes

The expanded LeakProtect lineup includes three levels of protection:

• LeakProtect Essential provides continuous water monitoring and alerts without requiring a shutoff valve, creating an option for homes where a full water shutoff valve installation may not be necessary or practical.
• LeakProtect Standard adds an automatic water shutoff valve on the home's main water line, using intelligent monitoring to distinguish normal household water use from potential leaks.
• LeakProtect XL is designed for larger and more complex properties, including homes with one-and-a-half-inch and two-inch water mains or multiple points of water control.

Across the lineup, Asurion provides a managed service that includes home assessment and device selection, professional installation through its network of licensed plumbers, guided activation and onboarding, 24/7 proactive monitoring, human review of significant alerts, up to $500 in plumbing discounts for qualifying leaks, warranty administration and ongoing technical support.

Expanding Asurion's work with Phyn
Asurion is also broadening its relationship with Phyn, a leader in AI-intelligent water monitoring and protection solutions. Asurion currently uses Phyn Plus, Phyn's whole-home smart water monitoring system with automatic shutoff, as part of LeakProtect Standard. The expanded relationship will add Phyn Assist, which provides continuous water monitoring and leak detection, to LeakProtect Essential and Phyn Protect XL, designed for larger diameter water lines, to LeakProtect XL.
