ASTON/River Road Long-Short Fund (ARLSX, ALSIX) Exceeds $100 Million In Assets
CHICAGO, Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Aston Asset Management, LP (Aston) is pleased to announce that the ASTON/River Road Long-Short Fund (ARLSX, ALSIX) has exceeded $100 million in assets under management as of July 23, 2013. The Fund was launched on May 4, 2011. River Road Asset Management (River Road), subadviser to the Fund, is an institutional asset management firm based in Louisville, KY, specializing in value-oriented equity investment management.
"We are very pleased to announce this exciting milestone for the ASTON/River Road Long-Short Fund," said Stuart D. Bilton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aston. "The Fund has received significant interest from advisors," noted Bilton. "Now that the $100 million threshold has been reached, the Fund will be available on more mutual fund platforms, opening up additional opportunities for investors."
The Fund seeks to provide absolute returns with reduced volatility by investing in long and short equity securities. Equity investments consist primarily of domestic common stock but may also include foreign stock, preferred stock, convertible securities and REITs. Instruments such as exchange traded funds, options, futures, and other index-based investments may be used to manage its exposure between long and short positions. In the pursuit of equity-like returns, the portfolio managers follow a strict, layered risk management process that systematically reduces net equity exposure during adverse market conditions.
Matthew W. Moran, CFA, and Daniel Johnson, CPA, CFA, serve as the Fund's Portfolio Managers. Mr. Moran is the Lead Portfolio Manager of River Road's Long-Short Equity Portfolio, and Mr. Johnson is a Portfolio Manager for the strategy.
"We have enjoyed a long and beneficial relationship with Aston through the opening of six mutual funds together," said R. Andrew Beck, President and Chief Executive Officer of River Road. "We are delighted with investor response to the ASTON/River Road Long-Short Fund and look forward to its continued success."

Note: Short sales may involve the risk that the fund will incur a loss by subsequently buying a security at a higher price than the price at which the fund previously sold the security short. A loss incurred on a short sale results from increases in the value of the security; losses on a short sale are theoretically unlimited. Value investing often involves buying the stocks of companies that are currently out of favor that may decline further. Investing in exchange traded and closed end funds are subject to additional risk that shares of the underlying fund may trade at a premium or discount to their net asset value per share. Convertible preferred securities are subject to the risks of equity securities and fixed income securities. Derivatives can be highly volatile and involve risk in addition to the risk of the underlying reference security. Investing in foreign issuers involves special risks and considerations not typically associated with investing in U.S. companies.
