ARLINGTON, Va., May 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) today released a new episode of its podcast, Public Health Review, featuring an in-depth interview with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director, Dr. Robert Redfield.
In the latest episode, entitled "Seeing the Possible: A Conversation with CDC Director Robert Redfield," Redfield discusses some of the nation's most pressing public health issues, including opioids, HIV transmission and the anti-vaccine movement, and unveils his plans to tackle these issues as director of the CDC. Public Health Review is the ASTHO podcast series addressing modern public health issues in states and territories through conversations with public health leaders, medical experts, and health policy experts.
Calling the opioid epidemic "the public health crisis of our time," Redfield also calls for the health community to "keep science off the shelf," and use evidence and science-based practice to face current public health challenges.
