Asthma Management Support for Families
Allergy & Asthma Network launches free mobile app
VIENNA, Va., July 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading nonprofit patient education organization Allergy & Asthma Network announces the launch of a unique asthma management tool: the free Asthma Storylines app. Powered by Health Storylines™, this is a self-care tool that allows users to track symptoms and create an accurate record of asthma that can be easily shared with the patient's healthcare team.
"Asthma is a variable disease, with symptoms that may seem random," says Tonya Winders, Allergy & Asthma Network President and CEO. "With understanding and a watchful eye, however, patients and families can see the pattern of their symptoms and learn to prevent and treat them before they get out of control. The Asthma Storylines app offers families a way to build and see the story of their child's health and work with their healthcare team to develop a personalized Asthma Action Plan of prevention and treatment."
The app was launched this weekend in Anaheim, CA, in conjunction with the annual conference of the Association of Asthma Educators (AAE), an professional organization that trains a wide range of healthcare professionals dedicated to educating families about asthma. Allergy & Asthma Network has teamed with AAE to provide resources and outreach program support. Community events at the conference include a free dinner workshop for families to help them learn the basics of asthma management and the tools that can assist. Sessions will be in English & Spanish and will be held at Children's Hospital of Orange County.
The Asthma Storylines mobile app is free for all users and can be installed on smartphones or tablets from the Apple App Store or Google play store. A web-based version is also available for computers.
