Association of National Numbering Agencies Enhances ISIN Database
CUSIP Global Services and SIX Financial Information to Add LEI, FISN, MIC Codes and More to ANNA Service Bureau Database
NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) has announced enhancements to its ANNA Service Bureau database (ASB) to improve transparency in global markets. Implemented by CUSIP Global Services and SIX Financial Information, who operate the ASB on behalf of the ANNA membership, the new enhancements include the addition of a number of new standardized data fields that will provide deeper entity and security-level detail to market participants.
The ANNA Service Bureau database contains global security and entity identifier data for over 28 million publicly traded instruments, contributed by 84 national numbering agencies and 31 partner agencies. It was developed by a consortium of global numbering agencies to collect and disseminate industry-standard global identifiers, ISIN and CFI codes, via a common platform to meet the needs of market participants around the world.
"We're excited to provide the global financial services industry with a more robust ANNA-driven, ISIN-based solution that promotes new critical standards like the LEI," said Dan Kuhnel, Chairman of the ANNA board of directors. "The collective efforts of our member NNA's combined with the efficiency and comprehensiveness with which this expansion was executed illustrates why CUSIP Global Services and SIX Financial Information remain the ideal choice to operate the ANNA Service Bureau as a central utility for ISIN-related data."
With the new enhancements to the ANNA Service Bureau database, the global numbering agencies have added 16 new data fields to the database, which can be used by market participants to gain a greater level of granularity into specific issuer, entity and security-level detail. Among the new fields added to the database are:
- Legal Entity Identifier (LEI)
- Lead Manager LEI
- Fund Manager LEI
- Financial Instrument Sort Name (FISN)
- Market Identifier Code (MIC)
- Central Securities Depository Name (CSD)
- Issuer Headquarters Address
"The ongoing development of the ISIN is so critical to the financial markets because it is a vendor-neutral, universally recognized standard that allows every institution to communicate seamlessly in a common language," said Jim Taylor, Managing Director and Head of CGS. "By continually improving and incorporating emerging standards into the ANNA Database, we are helping to improve a system that has become instrumental to global trade."
"The improvements made to the ANNA Service Bureau database are a prime example of what's possible when industry leaders from the private sector collaborate with one another and with industry groups to develop and implement standards that help raise the bar for the entire industry," said Nourredine Yous, Executive Director at SIX Financial Information. "We are honored to be a part of this critical effort to improve transparency in global markets."
The new enhancements to the ANNA Service Bureau database took effect on November 8th. For more information, please visit www.annaservice.com/anna/index.jsp.
