Association of Children's Museums Partners with Graham-Pelton to Enhance Fundraising Capacity
WASHINGTON, Feb. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of Children's Museums (ACM) and Graham-Pelton have joined forces to enhance fundraising programming for ACM's more than 400 member museums.
A crucial part of museum success, charitable giving has become increasingly important due to fiscal pressures. Giving USA's report on 2016 charitable giving notes that arts, culture and humanities organizations received only five percent of the $390.05 billion raised that year, ranking third lowest of all sectors.
Despite this low ranking among sectors in the 2016 report, the number of people supporting the arts, culture and humanities is rising, making these organizations the second-fastest growing subsector in terms of contributions received.
Thus, the challenge for organizations such as ACM is to harness the energy and passion driving the sector's growth. "By providing important technical support, our partnership with Graham-Pelton bolsters ACM's mission to champion children's museums worldwide," said Laura Huerta Migus, executive director of ACM. "Children's museums are important community-focused cultural organizations that provide educationally rich and inspirational spaces for all children to learn at through play and exploration. We're excited to work with Graham-Pelton to help our members serve even more children and families in their communities."
By partnering with Graham-Pelton, ACM's members will gain capacity-building opportunities in fundraising, including campaign planning, operational assessments, strategic planning, board and messaging development, analytical solutions and planned giving. Graham-Pelton will also offer an engagement discount to ACM member museums.
"An ethos at Graham-Pelton is that humanity depends on philanthropy. I can't think of a better way to support humanity than through the development of creativity and imagination in children, which then extends to their families and the wider community. We're pleased that our expertise in fundraising and philanthropy will better equip ACM to work with and on behalf of its 400 museum members worldwide," said Jennifer Harris, Ph.D., Graham-Pelton senior vice president.
Graham-Pelton's experts, including Dr. Harris and Vice President Alex Senchak, will lead a series of webinars and one in-person workshop for ACM members as follows:
