Association of Bioscience Financial Officers Announces Program for 2017 National Conference May 30-June 2 in Philadelphia
Largest Meeting of CFOs and accounting professionals in Bioscience Industry to Focus on Financial Topics at Convergence of Science and Technology
PHILADELPHIA, April 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of Bioscience Financial Officers (ABFO) today unveiled its detailed program for the 2017 National Conference, its 28th annual conference, which is set for May 30-June 2 at the Logan Philadelphia hotel.
With an average attendance of 200, ABFO's annual meeting is recognized as the largest and the most focused educational and networking event for financial executives at all levels with companies that develop drugs, medical devices and diagnostics. The 2017 program is comprised of several keynote presentations from high-profile executives, roundtable discussions covering a range of topics in line with the convergence theme and a series of small-group break-out sessions designed to equip attendees with practical information relevant to their daily roles in finance. Headlining the conference as keynote speakers will be:
- Dominic J. Caruso, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Johnson & Johnson
- Joe Quinlan, Managing Director & Chief Market Strategist, U.S. Trust, Bank of America, Private Wealth Management
- Michael Smerconish, Host, "Smerconish" CNN; "The Michael Smerconish Program," SiriusXM Radio
In addition to these talks, sessions led by industry CFOs and advisors will cover timely topics. These will include private and public financing pathways, pricing and reimbursement trends, and best practices in core areas such as investor and public relations, revenue recognition and board communications. One highlight will be the buy-side panel in which fund managers provide an overview of the state of interaction with Wall Street for financial executives involved in capital raising activities.
ABFO National Conference attendees can earn up to 18 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) credits through participation in the two-and-a-half days of programs while networking with their industry peers. An annual highlight is ABFO's "mystery event," an evening activity designed to bring attendees together for an over-the-top local experience that has been a hallmark of the organization's meeting since the first one in 1990.
"Philadelphia is an ideal location for the 2017 meeting with easy access to bring together attendees from the Northeast, West- Coast and other regions," said Louis Arcudi III, senior vice president of operations, chief financial officer, Idera Pharmaceuticals Inc., and conference co-chair. "The ABFO conference is designed to meet the needs of financial teams, not just CFOs. We encourage executives to recommend participation to all members of their teams because feedback we receive indicates that the training offered to accounting executives, controllers and others is beneficial for application in real-world practice."
Michael Celano, chief financial officer, Recro Pharma Inc., and conference co-chair, added: "This is about direct access to financial thought leaders in the biosciences and a rare opportunity for finance execs at all levels to network among themselves while earning CPE credits. The ABFO National Conference provides tremendous value for a minimal registration fee as compared to typical industry events. You will leverage conference relationships to build your career and help grow and manage your company"
The 2017 ABFO National Conference is sponsored by Aon, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Cooley, EY, Merrill Corporation, Oxford Finance and R&D Logic. Russo Partners is a conference supporter.
