Association of American Medical Colleges Selects CoreMedia
Medical Education Nonprofit Standardizes on CoreMedia's Web Content Management Platform to Meet Expanding Needs of Academic Medicine Community
SAN FRANCISCO, July 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CoreMedia, a leading Web content management (WCM) company, today announced the expansion of its relationship with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The nonprofit group that represents medical schools, teaching hospitals and health systems has selected CoreMedia CMS to power its website, www.aamc.org, to provide a more engaging user experience for its community of more than 300,000 medical professionals throughout North America. CoreMedia's open software architecture will help the AAMC meet exploding demand from association member representatives, medical school applicants, students and residents for information and online services. In 2008, the AAMC chose CoreMedia to manage MedEdPORTAL, the organization's free peer-reviewed publication service and repository for teaching materials, assessment tools and faculty development resources.
Bringing together the unique missions of education, patient care and research, the AAMC represents 152 accredited U.S. and Canadian medical schools; 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems; and 90 academic and scientific societies. The organization wanted to increase operational efficiencies associated with managing and updating the massive amounts of online content provided to its members and other customers. The association sought a solution that could aggregate content from a variety of sources and deliver it to a range of devices, provide scalability and flexibility for future growth, and, most importantly, offer an optimized user experience. The AAMC ultimately chose to standardize on CoreMedia across the organization to make it easier for editors and developers to customize, enhance and maintain its digital content while providing an online experience that adapts to each user's context including location, device, preferences and profile information.
"AAMC.org's users have some of the most highly intensive information access requirements in the world, and the organization continues to experience explosive demand," said Glenn Conradt, vice president, global marketing and North America at CoreMedia. "CoreMedia understands the real-world challenges faced by organizations that need to maintain fresh, relevant information that is easily accessible anytime, from any device. We are thrilled to expand our relationship to help provide a highly engaging, contextualized experience for all AAMC members."
