Assiter preparing for Canyon Heavy Equipment auction
CANYON, Texas, May 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As Amarillo-based Spanky Assiter's reputation has grown over the years, one thing has remained constant: The importance of Assiter Auctioneers' regular Canyon Heavy Equipment auctions, which have become a key West Texas event for those wishing to sell or purchase trucks, farm equipment, construction equipment, vehicles and much more.
And with the upcoming event slated for June 5, Assiter and his staff are currently focused on lining up consignments and marketing the equipment.
"It's amazing how the Canyon Heavy Equipment event has grown and changed. When we started it, there was no Internet. Now, it's central to the entire process, with bidding already under way for many pieces," said Assiter. Internet bidding will continue until right before the live auction, in which bidders may participate live or online.
A lot has changed over the years for Spanky and Amy Assiter as well. Both have won the prestigious International Auctioneer championship (Spanky in 1991 and Amy in 2000), and daughter Julia Sparks won the International Junior championship in 2012. Spanky was elected to the Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2007, and now he is hoping to add another major recognition: Vice President of the National Auctioneers Association.
"The industry has been good to me, making it possible for Amy and me to travel all over the country helping other auctioneers conduct high profile auctions. Running for office this year is one way I can give something back," said Assiter. The election will be conducted at NAA's annual Conference & Show in Louisville in July.
But first, the focus will be on heavy equipment in Canyon. Already, the inventory includes loaders, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, trucks, pickups and cars, and Assiter expects many more before the live auction on June 5.
"We always have sellers who wait until the last minute to consign their equipment, and we expect a lot more. We also welcome consignments from those who haven't sold in past auctions," said Assiter.
The equipment is located at the auction company's facility at 16650 Interstate 27, Canyon. Individuals interested in additional information may view the entire inventory at www.assiter.com or call 800-283-8005.
Assiter Auctioneers, based in Canyon, is the official auctioneer of Barrett-Jackson and specializes in the sale of equipment, homes, commercial properties, land and other assets.
