SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CannonDesign announced today that San Francisco-based Assembly Design Studio has joined with the firm. This unites remarkably complementary design teams focused on creating leading-edge workplace environments to help businesses thrive.
CannonDesign's extensive portfolio of award-winning design solutions for global businesses grows stronger with Assembly's expertise in creating breakthrough workspaces for technology and growth companies. Together, the team is now equipped to design the full spectrum of workplaces - ranging from startups in their infancy to organizations already dominating global markets.
"Clients today are asking design firms to help them push boundaries," said Brad Lukanic, AIA, CEO of CannonDesign. "Assembly will help broaden our impact on physical spaces, directly benefitting clients with new approaches, expanded teams and collaborative solutions. Leveraging Assembly's unique design sensibility and talent, coupled with our firm's continual evolution will take us beyond where even our clients can imagine. We're going to think and act bolder, together."
Led by founders Denise Cherry and Liz Guerrero, Assembly is an internationally recognized design studio that has worked with leading clients including Uber, Pinterest, Cisco and Zillow, among others. The studio's work with Uber's Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) Center in Pittsburgh earned distinction as the 2017 FX International Design Award Winner and secured other accolades from Interior Design, Azure, Blueprint and Fast Company.
"By joining with CannonDesign, we're able to connect our clients and team to an exciting new network of capabilities and opportunities," said Cherry. "We maintain our strong tech expertise and deep focus on design excellence, but can now also tap into the incredible backbone of a firm with more than 100 years of experience in essentially all markets."
Adding to Cherry's excitement, Guerrero says, "This also positions our team to bring new perspectives to CannonDesign's corporate interior practice on a national and global scale. We're excited about how this positions our team to lead the way in reshaping how workplaces help companies support their staff and achieve business and growth goals into the future."
Beyond capitalizing on the two firms' workplace design synergy, this move also bolsters CannonDesign's presence in San Francisco and Northern California, where the firm already has an office and has worked with Amazon and Intuitive Surgical. "We've been planning to grow our workplace interiors practice on the west coast," said Meg Osman, executive director of CannonDesign's corporate/commercial practice. "We've just been waiting to find the right team and right opportunity - Assembly is the perfect match."
Michael Bonomo, director of global workplace and co-leader of CannonDesign's corporate/commercial practice, echoes that sentiment. "Joining forces with Assembly, a firm so highly regarded for their ability to deliver agile workplaces for technology and software companies, is an ideal complement to the CannonDesign experience and portfolio of design excellence."
Both Cherry and Guerrero will join CannonDesign as principals and key leaders in the firm's corporate/commercial practice. With them, they bring a team of interior and brand designers who will focus on delivering high-quality design as they grow CannonDesign's market presence across Northern California and globally.
Assembly will conduct business as Assembly / CannonDesign until a future transition to the CannonDesign name.
