Assembly Design Studio Joins With CannonDesign

CannonDesign's extensive portfolio of award-winning design solutions for global businesses grows stronger with Assembly's expertise in creating breakthrough workspaces for technology and growth companies. Together, the team is now equipped to design the full spectrum of workplaces - ranging from startups in their infancy to organizations already dominating global markets.

Led by founders Denise Cherry and Liz Guerrero, Assembly is an internationally recognized design studio that has worked with leading clients including Uber, Pinterest, Cisco and Zillow, among others. The studio's work with Uber's Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) Center in Pittsburgh earned distinction as the 2017 FX International Design Award Winner and secured other accolades from Interior Design, Azure, Blueprint and Fast Company.

Beyond capitalizing on the two firms' workplace design synergy, this move also bolsters CannonDesign's presence in San Francisco and Northern California, where the firm already has an office and has worked with Amazon and Intuitive Surgical. "We've been planning to grow our workplace interiors practice on the west coast," said Meg Osman, executive director of CannonDesign's corporate/commercial practice. "We've just been waiting to find the right team and right opportunity - Assembly is the perfect match."

Michael Bonomo, director of global workplace and co-leader of CannonDesign's corporate/commercial practice, echoes that sentiment. Both Cherry and Guerrero will join CannonDesign as principals and key leaders in the firm's corporate/commercial practice. Assembly will conduct business as Assembly / CannonDesign until a future transition to the CannonDesign name.
