ASSA ABLOY Doors and Frames are Key to a Sustainable Built Environment
NEW HAVEN, Conn., Oct. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The world of sustainability is gearing up for this week's Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, taking place in New Orleans. The door and frame manufacturers of ASSA ABLOY Group brands will be showcasing their sustainable solutions in booth 301 during the expo.
Trio-E, the steel stiffened, energy efficient door opening has been a pioneer in this category, where green factors, strength, and aesthetics all play a role. The Trio-E door is part of a complete door opening, utilizing thermal break or kerf frames and PEMKO thermal barrier saddles, to offer the lowest operable U-Factor (measure of thermal resistance) in the industry, while maintaining the strength to withstand winds up to 100psf, meeting Florida's most stringent code requirements for hurricane-force winds and flying debris. The door is manufactured without any visible weld marks, to achieve a beautiful energy efficient opening.
The group will also receive an award at the show from GreenWizard, leading software provider for the design and construction community. ASSA ABLOY will be honored as a top performer in the doors category, as a contributor that continues to make innovative products and disclose product information in support of green and sustainable building needs.
With product transparency becoming an important element in built environments, our experts will be on hand to discuss the many advances being made during product development. Many doors and frames (both hollow metal and wood) have issued Health Product Declarations, Environmental Product Declarations, and Declare labels (to support the Living Building Challenge).
Managing these doors and frames once they've reached the end of their life cycle is important as well. There are now options to recycle hollow metal doors in collaboration with the Steel Recycling Institute, and to donate wood doors to Habitat for Humanity ReStores with the group's product end- of- life recycling program.
Expo attendees will also see an ASSA ABLOY presence in other partner booths, such UL Environment and GreenCircle. Visitors will also see a unified presence from ASSA ABLOY and CertainTeed, as part of an industry-first collaboration to address acoustical challenges in the classroom and beyond.
Solutions experts will be present in the ASSA ABLOY booth #301 for the entirety of the expo.
