These distinguished lectures feature renowned nutrition scientists offering insight from their careers into the specific disciplines they inhabit.

Pelto has successfully carved a place at the junction of nutrition and anthropology, receiving the Malinowski award from the Society for Applied Anthropology for solving human problems using the concepts of social science. She will address this very topic in her lecture.

Awarded to recognize unique contributions toward improving the diet and nutrition of people around the world. Atwater is considered the father of modern nutrition research and education, and U.S. Department of Agriculture's first chief of nutrition investigations. Slavin grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and has published more than 250 scientific articles on dietary fiber, carbohydrates, whole grains and protein. Her lecture will address how nutritional guidance must be based on strong science or we mislead the public with hollow promises of the magical properties of foods.
