NEW YORK, Sept. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), the nation's largest professional organization of independent nonfiction writers, invites freelancers and college students pursuing writing careers to attend its regional conference, Dream Bold Atlanta, on November 5, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga. "We're thrilled that international best-selling writer, Robert Hicks, author of The Widow of the South, will be our keynote speaker and debut his book The Orphan Mother," says Mickey Goodman, co-chair of the conference.
Respected writers, editors, corporate communications professionals and other content buyers will gather for a day filed with education and networking opportunities. "Our regional conference will offer writers the exclusive opportunity to network with top-notch editors and to pitch ideas to content providers from all over the country," said Sherry Beck Paprocki, ASJA Board President. "It's a great resource for established writers as well as aspiring freelance writers." (Visit asja.org/ATLANTA to register.)
"We've lined up eight information-packed panels," says Goodman. "Michael Lucker, who worked with Steven Spielberg and penned more than 20 feature screenplays for Paramount, Disney, Dreamworks and Universal studios will moderate 'Dream of Writing for Stage and Screen.' Peter Bowerman, best-selling author of The Well-Fed Writer and The Well-Fed Self Publisher whose books have become go-to references for freelancers, will moderate 'Dream of Breaking Into Freelancing and Making Big Bucks.'"
Additional panels include "Dream of Landing Content Gigs," "Dream of the Perfect Brand for Yourself," moderated by award-winning author, Beverly Harzog, and "Dream of Being Pitch Perfect," an interactive session where writers pitch their story ideas to top editors.
The Dream Bold Atlanta conference is open to ASJA members at the early bird rate of $145 and non-members at $165 through September 30. College students with a valid student I.D. can register for $25, which includes the application fee for ASJA's new student affiliate program.
