ASJA Announces ConCon Chicago Conference Details and Keynote Speaker Jay Heinrichs
"Power Your Platform" theme for ConCon Chicago 2014
NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) released today the program details for their Content Connections conference (ConCon) in Chicago November 13 - 14, 2014. ASJA announced that the keynote speaker for the conference is Jay Heinrichs, an author, editorial director and persuasion consultant who works with award-winning content agency Pace Communications in Greensboro, NC. Heinrichs is the editorial director of Southwest Airline's inflight magazine Spirit and his client base includes NASA, Harvard, the Pentagon, the National Association of Realtors, and Ogilvy UK, among others.
Building on the momentum of its successful 2013 ConCon conference in Chicago, ASJA returns to the Columbia College campus to connect freelance writers and editors to opportunities in content. Sessions will deliver powerful insights for novices and veterans looking to expand or launch a freelance career by writing content for agencies, brands, companies and non-profit organizations. Registration is now open.
In keeping with its 2014 theme, "Power Your Platform," the ConCon Chicago conference is designed to deliver the key insights that freelance writers and editors
need to develop and leverage a subject specialty—a mandatory requirement for success in the content writing world. The conference sessions and workshops will provide the knowledge needed to: find clients and set competitive rates, maximize storytelling techniques, understand digital metrics, work with influencers, craft contracts and proposals, build a platform based on culture or heritage, create infographics, transition from full-time to freelance status and much more. The full conference lineup and speakers page can be viewed at asja.org.
ConCon also offers content marketers the opportunity to participate in a special Client Connections session where they can meet skilled, professional freelance writers with an expertise in subject matters that align with their content needs. One-on-one meetings between writers and potential clients will take place at the conference during a speed-dating-style networking session.
Participants in ConCon Chicago 2013 included Meredith Xcelerated Marketing (MXM), Imagination, Leo Burnett, Rogers Media, Pohly Company, Purdue University, Rotary International, the American Lung Association, ABC News, Lightspan Digital and more.
