Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials Constituency Group Elects New Officers
WASHINGTON, March 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials (APAMO), a constituency group of the National League of Cities (NLC), announces the election of its new officers during NLC's 2010 Congressional City Conference.

Newly elected APAMO officers include:
President: Councilmember Gilbert Wong, Cupertino, Calif.
Vice President: Mayor Evan Low, Campbell, Calif.
Secretary: Mayor Stephen Sham, Alhambra, Calif.
Treasurer: City Clerk Helen Kawagoe, Carson, Calif.
Immediate Past President: Councilmember Jean Quan, Oakland, Calif.
As president, Councilmember Wong will oversee the 2010 priorities for the constituency group, which include immigration reform and foreclosure prevention.
APAMO is a constituency group of NLC. Its mission is to provide Asian Pacific American municipal officials and their colleagues with a forum to share ideas and develop leadership experience. It also serves as a vehicle for members to discuss problems and explore solutions, debate policy issues, and contribute to the success of American cities and towns. APAMO has a Board of Directors as well as general members. It was established at NLC in 1985.
The Congressional City Conference is the annual legislative meeting of the National League of Cities, designed to inform municipal leaders about federal policy issues while providing an opportunity for city leaders to bring local concerns to their federal elected officials in Washington, DC.
