ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 7, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- ASI Government (ASI) announced today the winner of its "Choices for Charity" contest, which celebrated ASI's recent name change and the many ways in which the company serves its federal government clients. ASI revealed that the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Trust is the recipient of a $10,000 donation after the DAV earned more than 3,600 votes throughout the competition.

"ASI is thrilled to support the DAV, which works tirelessly to improve the lives of our nation's disabled veterans and their families," said Anne Reed, ASI's president and CEO. Ms. Reed added, "When it came time to celebrate our recent name change from Acquisition Solutions to ASI Government, we thought, 'What better way to do so than by donating to a charity that aligns with the mission of our government customers?' The DAV does just that, and we see this as a wonderful way to give back to those who have served our country."
ASI launched the "Choices for Charity" contest in October as part of its rebranding celebration. Rather than choose a charity on its own, ASI first asked employees to nominate 15 nonprofits whose work aligned with that of a client mission, then invited the public to provide its input via the firm's Web site (www.asigovernment.com). ASI also encouraged visitors to write in the names of their favorite charities, and the top two organizations nominated each week were added to the original list of 15. Participants were permitted to vote once per day throughout the duration of the contest, which concluded Friday, Dec. 3.
The DAV immediately emerged as a front-runner in the contest. The organization generated excitement and gained a sizeable lead by adding a voting button to its Web site. The DAV also communicated regularly with its supporters through social networking sites like Facebook.
"We were grateful to be nominated by an ASI employee in the Choices for Charity contest, and to be named one of 15 organizations initially selected," said Dick Marbes, the Trust's chairman. "We're grateful for the support and partnership ASI has provided our organization. We're also excited to put this gift to work for disabled veterans and their families who will benefit from the concern and patriotism of the entire ASI team."
ASI thanks all who participated in the Choices for Charity contest, especially the nonprofits that strive each day to advance worthwhile initiatives across the country. A complete list of nominated charities may be found below.
