Ashworth College to Participate in Atlanta Children's Shelter Holiday House Event
NORCROSS, Ga., Dec. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) will help make the holidays brighter for many local homeless youth this year by participating in the Atlanta Children's Shelter Holiday House.
The Georgia based online school will be helping to sponsor the annual event which provides a place where homeless parents can 'shop' free of charge for warm clothing, gifts and family necessities. Ashworth will be donating a holiday stocking table where the children will be able to decorate and fill their new stockings.
"The holidays are a special time at Ashworth and the staff always takes great pride in its efforts to share and give back to the local community," said Cerise Lake, Ashworth's Human Resource Administrator. "It's a great opportunity to get into the spirit of the season by spending time with co-workers, meeting new people, and giving back to the community."
In addition to donating the stockings and decorating materials, the administration and staff will also be collecting donations for the stocking stuffers. Representatives from Ashworth College will staff the event December 14 - 16 and hope to reach out to 250 or more children.
Throughout the year, Ashworth makes a concentrated effort to support a number of worthwhile causes, including Habitat for Humanity, Atlanta Community Food Bank, The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and March of Dimes.
