NEW YORK, Aug. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ASCAP, the leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, continues to add to its first-class technology team. The organization has named former New York Times digital executive Tristan Boutros as Chief Technology Officer. Tristan will be based in New York and will report to Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Brian Roberts.
As CTO, Tristan will lead ASCAP's evolving technology strategy and execution to scale the global IT systems and infrastructure in support of ASCAP's many business transformation initiatives, encompassing ASCAP's cloud strategy, including elastic computing and API roadmap. Working in close partnership with ASCAP's Digital Product, Data Strategy and Operations teams, Tristan will drive execution of the transformation roadmap to create a best-in-class platform for music rights management for music creators, publishers and licensees.
Tristan brings a wealth of digital transformation experience with leading media organizations to the role. He joins ASCAP from The New York Times, where he served as Chief of Operations. He joins a growing roster of ASCAP executives with deep digital backgrounds, including EVP, Chief Strategy & Digital Officer Alice Kim; EVP and Head of International Affairs Tony Dunaif; SVP, Digital Product, Dena Fletcher; SVP Administration Services Lisa Selden; and SVP Strategy & Business Development Mark Sperling.

While at The New York Times, Tristan helped streamline and unify multiple teams and systems supporting their core product and extended properties and enterprise tools. Among other accomplishments, Tristan directed their Agile transformation efforts across Digital, while simultaneously managing the execution of multiple major initiatives across NYTimes.com and NYT beta web properties, helping the organization to drive subscription growth tenfold.
Prior to the New York Times, Tristan spent three years as Senior Vice President, Technology and Business Process at Warner Music Group, where he successfully drove transformation of its global IT department and legacy systems. He has also held senior technology roles at BlackBerry and IAC.
In addition to his full-time role, Tristan currently teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University. He is also the co-author of several books: The Basics of Process Improvement with Jennifer Cardella (Productivity Press, 2016), and The Process Improvement Handbook: A Blueprint for Managing Change and Increasing Organizational Performance (Mechanical Engineering) with Tim Purdie (McGraw-Hill, 2013). His third book, Agile Project Management (Fundamentals for Project Management), will be released this winter. Boutros received a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honors Business Administration), Marketing & Management Studies and Computer Science from University of Windsor in Ontario.
