ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) today announced the national winners of its annual Azbee Awards of Excellence competition, which honors the best in business-to-business journalism.
The awards were presented during GenerationB2B, ASBPE's 2019 national conference, which is taking place May 9 and 10 at the Poynter Institute. A total of 258 national Azbees were handed out, capping a competition that attracted more than 1,100 entries from B2B publications across the nation.
Professional Builder magazine was honored as Magazine of the Year among publications with more than $3 million in annual revenue. Honorable mentions went to ISE magazine and The Meeting Professional magazine. tED magazine was honored as Magazine of the Year among publications with less than $3 million in annual revenue, while honorable mentions went to Cannabis Business Times and Exhibitor magazine.
In the Website of the Year category, American Banker earned the top honor, and TechRepublic and SevenFifty Daily won honorable mentions. In the Best Cross-Platform Package of the Year category, Architect magazine was honored for "The R.W. Kern Center at Hampshire College." ABA Journal, dvm360, and Imaging Technology News won honorable mentions.

Stephen Barr Award
ASBPE's Stephen Barr Award, the association's top individual prize for feature writing, went to Kevin Davis, managing editor of ABA Journal, for "Under Questioning: The Chicago police legacy of extracting false confessions is costing the city millions." His powerful and deeply backgrounded study examined years of abuses by Chicago police in interrogating suspects.
This is the 16th Stephen Barr Award to be presented. The award is named for one of ASBPE's most honored journalists, who died of cancer in 2002 at the age of 43. It recognizes work that shows inventiveness, insight, balance, depth of investigation, and impact on readers. A check for $500 accompanies the award, endowed by Barr's family and administered by the ASBPE Foundation (www.asbpe.org/asbpe-foundation).
