RESTON, Va., July 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) announces the release of two upcoming professional development offerings, the first a one-day webinar titled "Raise Your Appraiser IQ" to air August 22, 2018, and the second a two-day in-person course titled "Attacking and Defending an Appraisal in Litigation" to be held August 24-25, 2018 in Dulles, VA and October 5-6, 2018 in Anaheim, CA. These classes apply across all ASA disciplines.
Designed for appraisers and allied professionals, including but not limited to attorneys, lenders and banking institutions, government employees along with the Department of Justice the two offerings will provide attendees with better tools of analysis and communication, insight into the support needed to satisfy the latest regulatory and client requirements, tips on testifying and cross-examination and strategies on how to avoid common mistakes.
"It's critical for appraisers to stay on top of the latest standards and methods, as well as educate themselves on how to defend and articulate their value conclusions," said Travis Lee Avant, ASA, a Walterboro, SC based real property appraiser, who currently serves on ASA's Appraisal Review and Management Discipline Committee—the group responsible for developing and hosting the two upcoming offerings.
Both offerings will be presented by Ted Whitmer, MAI-AI-GRS CRE CCIM, an appraiser and practicing attorney who currently represents appraisers in the disciplinary process with the Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board, as well frequent lecturer and consultant.
Pricing for the webinar is $39 members and $59 non-members; while pricing for the two-day course is $595 members and $795 non-members.
