What: The VA offers veterans the best health care available in the country, and it's in danger of being ripped away from them. With legislation passed and pending on Capitol Hill, more than 49,000 vacancies plaguing medical centers nationwide, and with 1,700 veterans service representatives being told their jobs are in peril – the veterans' health care that was promised is on the verge of being dismantled and sold to the lowest bidder.
The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 250,000 workers at the Department of Veterans Affairs, is hosting a call this Tuesday to update the public on efforts to defend the only health care system tailored to the unique needs of our nation's veterans. Listeners will get updates on rallies being held across the country, lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill, and what's still expected to come.
