Arylessence Fragrance Selected by Fragrances of Florida for Congressional Club's First Lady's Luncheon
Created for Fragrances of Florida, the beautiful orange blossom fragrance captures the essence of the Sunshine State
ATLANTA, June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A prestigious tradition that began 99 years ago, the Congressional Club's annual First Lady's Luncheon is held each spring in Washington, D.C., where almost 2,000 members and guests at the Washington Hilton Hotel welcomed and honored the nation's First Lady Michelle Obama.
This year, the event celebrated the State of Florida with a beautifully designed orange blossom fragrance created for Janet Westling of Fragrances of Florida by the Atlanta-based fragrance house, Arylessence.
"I wanted a fruity floral fragrance that captured the essence of the Sunshine state," said Janet Westling. "The fragrance we named La Florida does that beautifully with sweet notes of orange blossom, mango, jasmine and just a hint of sea breeze."
Built around orange blossom, the official state flower, which sweetly perfumes the central and southern areas of the state when millions of tiny white flowers bloom in the spring, La Florida was designed by Arylessence perfumer Monica Aneiros-Burke, a long-time Florida resident of Cuban heritage.
"This is a fragrance for a very special occasion," says Monica Aneiros-Burke. "I wanted it to say everything I love about Florida with sweet citrus, mango and peach notes opening to a floral heart of orange blossom and jasmine, freshened with ozone sea breeze and soft dune grass over a base of salted driftwood, aquatic amber, and white musk. It's lively, breezy, and evokes the Florida sun, sea, and fragrant fruits and flowers."
Janet Westling, Founder and President of Fragrances of Florida, was invited to create the new perfume by the Congressional Club's event chair Pat Mica, wife of Florida Congressman John Mica.
"It was an amazing experience to participate in this event in such a special way," said Janet Westling. "As a small business entrepreneur, creating and launching a new fragrance for the First Lady's Luncheon was a great honor for me and my team."
The Congressional Club of Washington, D.C. is a non-partisan group that promotes friendship among the spouses of House, Senate, and Cabinet members and Supreme Court Justices. The club's First Lady's Luncheon is an annual springtime event, held every year since 1912.
