HANNOVER, Germany, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- ArvinMeritor, Inc. (NYSE: ARM) today announced the expansion of its successful European hub reduction product line, with the MX series of front drive steer axles, targeted particularly for heavy construction and military applications.

Available initially with a 13-tonne gross axle rating and ratios from 3.46 to 7.21, the MX front drive axles are designed for use in 4x4, 6x6 and 8x6 applications.

Optimized ratio matching with the Meritor rear axles allows for seamless all-wheel drive engagement and disengagement while driving which reduces wear on the transfer case and gear set resulting in improved durability. Steering angles of up to 45 degrees for drum and 50 degrees for air disc brake configurations provide vehicles with enhanced maneuverability and simplified vehicle maintenance.
The MX utilizes Meritor's proven carrier technology and comes with the following additional features:
- Available curvic coupling differential lock
- Full range of Meritor drum and disc brake options
- Compatibility for defense and low traction applications that require central tire inflation
