LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Arup, a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs, announced today that work has begun on the new United States Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. Arup will provide integrated engineering services to prime architect Morphosis for the United States Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO).
The new embassy compound will be constructed on U.S. government-owned property located in Aoukar, approximately 11 km north of Beirut City. The project site is approximately 43 acres in size and is situated on a steep hillside. It is expected to achieve LEED Silver.

In addition to this embassy in Beirut, Arup is working on the new U.S. embassy in London currently under construction, as well as the new consulate in Matamoros, Mexico.
Previous projects completed with Morphosis include the San Francisco Federal Building, Caltrans District 7 Headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, and Diamond Ranch High School in Diamond Bar, California.
