Aruba Hosts The World's Largest Beach Tennis Competition, The Divi Aruba Beach Tennis Open 2014
ORANJESTAD, Aruba, Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Beach tennis has quickly become one of the fastest growing sports on the globe, combining elements taken from beach volleyball, tennis, badminton and table tennis to create the unique and fast-paced national pastime of Aruba, the One happy island. As the first Caribbean island to embrace the sport, Aruba plays host to more than 50 tournaments annually, including the world's most famous competition—the Divi Aruba Beach Tennis Open—taking place Nov. 17—23 and currently live-streaming on Aruba.com.
The biggest and most popular beach tennis event held in the world, the Divi Aruba Beach Tennis Open attracts more than 1,000 professional and amateur players from around the globe who come not just for the beach tennis action, but also to enjoy the exciting ambiance, music and activities held on the sparkling white sands of Eagle Beach.

This year, a record number of 50 participants are coming from Italy—the birthplace of Beach Tennis—while Brazil, another country with a large beach tennis presence, is sending more than 250 participants. With athletes from 25 participating countries including USA, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Bermuda, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Curacao, Bonaire, Martinique and St. Maarten and newcomers Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Japan and Switzerland competing on 35 courts, the biggest beach tennis competition in the world is sure to delight world-renown athletes and vacationers alike.
