Artist/Activist Saber In A Live Art Performance On Behalf Of Epilepsy Foundation

Renowned fine artist and activist Ryan Weston Shook (also known as Saber) helps launch the Epilepsy Foundation's first-ever nationwide, multi-year campaign, Let's Use Our Brains to End Epilepsy®, with a live, public art performance. Saber, who has epilepsy, will create a massive art installation to bring attention to this brain disease and the need to End Epilepsy. The art piece will be auctioned as a fundraiser and t-shirts featuring Saber's art will be sold on Omaze to benefit the Foundation. Let's Use Our Brains to End Epilepsy places a focus on the brain to change the conversation around seizures, educate the public about seizure first aid and raise awareness about brain health. The campaign is built around the fact that epilepsy is a brain disorder that can affect anyone with a brain, and anyone with a brain can affect epilepsy.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention estimates that 3.4 million people in the United States are affected by epilepsy; in Los Angeles region, there are more than 160,000 people with epilepsy. Epilepsy is the underlying tendency of the brain to produce seizures which are sudden abnormal bursts of electrical energy that disrupt brain functions.
