Artist Christof Zwiener and The Wende Museum bring East German guardhouse to Culver City
CULVER CITY, Calif., Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- After an exhibition series in Berlin, the ADN Pfoertnerhaus, a project initiated and curated by Berlin artist Christof Zwiener, has traveled to the Los Angeles area for the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Guardhouse to the former media headquarters of the German Democratic Republic in East Berlin (Allgemeine Deutsche Nachrichtendienst "ADN") the structure was safeguarded by Zwiener as the last remaining specimen of its type. It will be on view throughout Los Angeles County for two months before its permanent residence at The Wende Museum.
From October 19 to November 2, the guardhouse will be installed in the heart of downtown Culver City and feature an art installation by Los Angeles artist Friedrich Kunath. Entitled Some power, that hardly looked like power, said I'm only perfect in an empty room (from the song 'The Wild Kindness' by David Berman), Kunath's sculpture symbolizes the collision between different times and cultures, as well as dreams and nightmares.
Opening for Friedrich Kunath: October 18, 6:00-8:00pm
On view: October 19 – November 2, 2014
Location: 9300 Culver Blvd,90232
