The Get Moving America campaign, sponsored by AstraZeneca, was launched last month to establish a social media community that reaches, inspires, and connects adults with OA.
"The Arthritis Foundation has joined forces with AstraZeneca to raise funds to fight and cure arthritis," said Arthritis Foundation President and CEO Ann M. Palmer. "For each person that signs up to participate in the Get Moving America challenge, AstraZeneca will make a $1 donation to the Arthritis Foundation, up to $25,000. The funds raised will help the Arthritis Foundation serve the 50 million adults and 300,000 children affected by the disease."
Led by Olympic gold medalist Dorothy Hamill, who has OA, Get Moving America can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/getmovingamerica and on Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube. The campaign features a 90-Day challenge for users to log on daily and discover new exercise routines from celebrity fitness trainer, Terri Walsh, obtain tips from Dorothy Hamill, unlock virtual fitness badges, and receive daily motivational messages. Participants can share their progress and experiences as well as motivate others on the Facebook page and other social media platforms.
