Art Van Furniture Invites Grand Rapids Residents To Express Themselves By Snapping A "Sofie" (Selfie On A Sofa) For Chance To Win The Sofa Of Their Dreams

WARREN, Mich., Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- "Sit, snap, share and win!" Art Van Furniture taking it to the streets of Grand Rapids to celebrate the release of its 2014 Fall Style Catalog, inviting the public to strike a pose and take a selfie (or more accurately, a "sofie") on a stylish new Art Van sofa for a chance to win one of their  own from the retailer. On Thursday, September 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Rosa Parks Circle (Monroe Center and Monroe Avenue) will be transformed into a comfortable outdoor lounge with a dozen contemporary Art Van sofas. Guests can pose for their close up alone, with friends, or even with Nigel Barker, the internationally renowned photographer, celebrity host of The Face on the Oxygen Network, and Art Van style maker. The event will also feature music and the first 1,000 guests will receive gift bags containing the catalog.

The picture-taking participants must then tag their Art Van sofie with the hashtags #ArtVan and #SofaSelfie and post it on their personal Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram social media sites. Art Van Furniture is also hosting similar events with Nigel Barker in Detroit and Chicago. Individuals who are unable to attend the events can enter the contest by taking a selfie on a sofa at their favorite Art Van Furniture store. The top 55 contestants receiving the most retweets, shares and likes by September 30 will win a new sofa from Art Van Furniture. As an added attraction, 300 guests will have the opportunity to play "Musical Couches in the Circle" (a takeoff on musical chairs), and the last person sitting will receive a $1,000 Art Van gift card.
