Donations of non-perishable food items at retailer's 17 metro Detroit locations to be distributed to families in need by Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan
WARREN, Mich., Oct. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For the seventh consecutive year, Art Van Furniture and WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 will join forces to help fight hunger and brighten the holidays for local families. The Midwest's No. 1 furniture and mattress retailer and WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 are teaming up once again with Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan for their Together We Can holiday food drive. From November 1 through 23, Art Van Furniture will have collection stations at its 17 metro Detroit locations for guests to drop off non-perishable food items. Donations will be distributed to families in need by the non-profit organization, which has been feeding the hungry for almost four decades.
Since 2009, over 90,000 pounds of food has been generously donated as part of the Together We Can campaign for rural, suburban and urban communities across metro Detroit. A record-breaking 20,701 pounds of packaged and canned food was collected in 2014, which provided over 17,200 meals to families in need. Art Van Furniture and WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 are hoping to top last year's donation.
