Armenian Assembly of America Reacts to President Trump's Statement
WASHINGTON, April 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) Co-Chairs Anthony Barsamian and Van Krikorian issued the following in response to President Trump's statement on the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide:
"President Trump's statement today demonstrates the need for the FBI and the Congressional Intelligence Committees to do thorough investigations of all the evidence on surreptitious Turkish influence on the U.S. government.
At a time when Christians and minority communities continue to be in imminent danger and under constant attack, the President's statement fails to stand up for human rights and is inconsistent with American values, and represents the same kind of capitulation to Turkish authoritarianism which will cost more lives."
Established in 1972, the Armenian Assembly of America is the largest Washington-based nationwide organization promoting public understanding and awareness of Armenian issues. The Assembly is a non-partisan, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt membership organization.
