DALLAS, July 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Arlington has joined more than a dozen cities in moving their retail electricity business to TXU Energy this year. The city previously had been a long-time customer of the Texas Coalition for Affordable Power.
"We work closely with our customers to deliver customized solutions that go well beyond a simple aggregated service," said Gabe Castro, vice president of business for TXU Energy.
In addition to lowering the rate the city pays for electricity, TXU Energy will help the city identify and pay for qualified energy efficiency projects that will produce additional savings for years to come. That is part of the company's TXU GreenBack program.
The city currently uses about 72,500 megawatt-hours per year. That's the same as about 5,000 average Texas homes.
"Historically low electricity prices make this an ideal time for cities and other commercial consumers to lock in savings and long-term budget certainty, which helps them to be great stewards of the tax dollars the manage," said Castro.
