TEMPE, Ariz., March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Arizona State University is proud to announce the Military Active Duty and Reservist Commitment Scholarship available to undergraduate military students enrolled through the university's online campus. Recognized as a "Military Friendly School" by G.I. Jobs magazine for the sixth consecutive year, this scholarship further demonstrates ASU's continued commitment to honoring service men and women by providing increased access to a quality education. The scholarship will benefit students using military Tuition Assistance by covering the remaining cost of tuition per credit hour, meaning eligible military students will no longer have out-of-pocket tuition expenses to attend ASU Online.
"We are honored to expand our commitment to those serving our country and to provide them with the opportunity to receive a world-class education while stationed here and abroad through this scholarship," said university provost Robert Page. "Arizona State University recognizes the unique lifestyle of military members, and we are committed to meeting the needs of military families as they work to complete their education."
In order to be eligible for the Military Active Duty and Reservist Commitment Scholarship, students must be enrolled as an undergraduate at ASU Online and utilizing their military Tuition Assistance (TA) benefits. The scholarship is available to students of all academic levels from incoming freshman through senior that meet the minimum university requirements for admission, and was created to ease the remaining cost of tuition as active and reservist men and women continue to serve our country. The scholarship will go into effect March 16 for the 2015 Spring B session.
"Our service women and men willingly volunteer to serve our Nation in its most difficult moments and put their lives on the line so that we might enjoy our freedoms. Therefore, it is our duty to provide our full support for Veterans and active military as they look to continue their education. Our scholarship reflects the commitment of Arizona State University to honor those who serve and have served," said retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General Benjamin C. Freakley, the Special Advisor to the President for Leadership Initiatives at Arizona State University.
