Arizona Dispensary Solutions Commends the Arizona Department of Health Services

PHOENIX, May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Arizona dispensary application process closed on May 25th, 2012, with over 480 prospective applicants, a tremendous effort has been underway to provide the most qualified dispensary applicants an opportunity to help build a regulated non-profit medical marijuana industry in the state. It started in April 2011 with the Director ensuring that the medical marijuana program was scalable by allowing patients and caregivers to apply for their cards online without using valuable hours at the ADHS building. In May 2012, the ADHS website updated dispensary application counts for each CHAA (Community Health Analysis Area) on a nightly basis so potential operators were able to track where they stood in real time.

Director Will Humble, Administrative Counsel & Rules Manager Tom Salow, and the other state workers at the Arizona Department of Health Services have shown a level of operational efficiency, transparency, and objectivity that other public and private sector organizations should aspire to attain. 

In an age where it has become a political hobby to bash the size of government, it would be remiss to forget the hard work and late nights that have been put in by ADHS officials to implement the best medical marijuana program in the United States of America. The program has been mired with lawsuits and opposition from lobbyists, making the medical marijuana program a heavy burden to carry for a department that was plagued by budget cuts after the 2008 fiscal crisis. Credit is also due to cities and towns that added zoning definitions and restrictions for dispensaries and cultivation sites before that part of the program is operational.

The Department continued to multitask before Memorial Day weekend by considering PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as a potential qualifying condition for the medical marijuana program. This will greatly impact the lives of many veterans who have served the United States and need to have their medical rights protected.

As Arizona Dispensary Solutions has been working with some of the most qualified applicants in the state since late 2010, it has been observed time and again that when an industry is allowed to function as designed, the cream rises to the top, people do their best work, and regulation can be a good thing.
