Arizona Care Network and Solve.Care Foundation Launch Game-Changing Blockchain Technology Platform
PHOENIX, Oct. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Arizona Care Network, one of the nation's leading accountable care organizations, and Solve.Care Foundation have launched a proprietary Blockchain platform to relieve healthcare's administration burdens, reduce waste in the system and improve healthcare outcomes, all from a mobile phone.
ACN has launched Care.Wallet for Physician a mobile app built on Blockchain technology to make healthcare safer and more efficient and to streamline benefits administration. The first release displays actionable data for physicians to drive better care and the financial rewards they earn from ACN for improved healthcare delivery and reduced costs.
Next, ACN will launch a Care.Wallet for patients. This will reduce many of the inefficiencies in the current system by coordinating all parties, as the Blockchain automatically synchronizes benefits information, including deductibles and co-pays, co-insurance and out-of-pocket expenses. The goal is for patients to use the app for immediate authorizations, to schedule appointments with ACN physicians and share accurate benefits information.
"When an ACN provider and patient both have a Care.Wallet, they will have on their mobile phone all the information they need for safe, efficient care and an exceptional healthcare experience," said Dr. David Hanekom, CEO, Arizona Care Network.
For example, as an ACN patient, the Care.Wallet eliminates any delay to the start of care while the doctor's office calls to verify insurance eligibility. It updates vital information and healthcare interactions and alerts the provider and patient to maintenance care needed based on their health history.
For providers and their office staff, the real-time, verified data shared via the Care.Wallet reduces a variety of administrative tasks associated with processing claims and streamlines reimbursement.
"The importance of Blockchain technology in healthcare cannot be overstated, as it will allow for true coordination of care administration," said Dr. David Hanekom, CEO of Arizona Care Network. "This will enable organizations like ours to have direct interaction with patients, insurers and providers."
How it works: Real-time coordination of health and benefits information
The Care.Wallet contains Care.Cards that interact within the Blockchain ecosystem of Care.Wallet. The wallets and the cards automatically sync with other wallets in the chain, resulting in real-time coordination of information and administration across stakeholders to create a unique experience. Financial transactions in the network occur within the digital healthcare currency of Solve.Care called Care.Coin, the first digital currency used for healthcare payments on Blockchain. Among the advantages of Care.Coins are instant and transparent payments inside the system, according to Pradeep Goel, CEO of Solve.Care Foundation. ACN physicians earn Care.Coins based on their performance. Each Care.Coin equals one US dollar and can be redeemed through ACN.
"The Solve.Care solution allows organizations to create, store, and share administrative and financial records via a network of personal devices that do not rely on a central entity to control the data," Goel said. "The platform updates all parties in the 'chain' in real time, so doctors' offices can use the application to check patient eligibility and benefits details, coordinate care across parties and locations, and reduce delays in payer reimbursement cycles."
Driving healthcare transformation
For Arizona Care Network, Hanekom says the Care.Wallet delivers on the organization's Quadruple Aim – improve the health of our population with high quality care, deliver a better patient experience, reduce the rising cost of care, and improve provider satisfaction.
"With this launch, we have addressed physicians' administrative pain points so they can get back to doing more of what they are trained to do – deliver great healthcare," said Hanekom.
