Aricent Group Reaches Landmark 35th LTE Win
Powering LTE across North America, Europe, and Asia
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/-- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS -- The Aricent Group, a global innovation and technology services company, today announced that it has reached the landmark of 35 LTE engagements globally. Through its internal R&D investment in providing comprehensive software frameworks for LTE, Aricent has become the leading supplier to some of the most prominent original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the marketplace.
The company's software has been incorporated into various solutions by OEMs and is now live or in advanced trials with multiple service provider network deployments across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. Aricent Group LTE customers include tier-one network equipment providers, device vendors, and chipset manufacturers. By leveraging Aricent's software frameworks and its pool of consultants and engineers, customers and partners have been able to speed up development and focus on differentiated features.
Aricent's 3GPP Release 9 and Release 10 compliant protocol stacks and software frameworks for LTE span eNodeB platforms and components, IP Backhaul, and the Evolved Packet Core. Reference frameworks support both the Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD) modes of operation on LTE across different bands. The Aricent Group employs more than 5,000 wireless engineers, with more than 600 engineers specializing in LTE product development.
"LTE is the fastest developing system in the history of mobile communication, driving OEMs to look for strategic partners," said CP Murali, executive vice president and general manager, Product Engineering Services, Aricent Group. "The unprecedented demand for LTE products and solutions is driving our success in the market place. Our innovation and product engineering services, combined with industry leading LTE software frameworks, are providing our customers with massive cost and time-to-market advantage to capitalize on this opportunity."
"It's understood that the LTE market is growing at an extremely fast pace. This growth, however, brings challenges for many players in the ecosystem," noted Peter Jarich, Service Director with Current Analysis. "In particular, given the solid amount of standardization driving LTE, one of the major challenges facing equipment providers is differentiation. To be sure, every telecom equipment provider needs to get the basics right. Beyond that, they also must ensure that they are providing something unique or risk becoming a lower-paid commodity...or ignored altogether."
