LONDON, Oct. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Global energy and commodity information provider Argus rose in the ranks for a third successive year in the annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table, which lists the UK's most profitable companies.
The league table, published in The Sunday Times today, ranks the UK's private-sector mid-market growth companies with the biggest sales. Argus ranks 171st for revenue this year, compared with 196th last year and 227th in 2016 when it first appeared in the rankings. In terms of profitability — measuring profit as a percentage of sales — Argus is in 13th place.
In order to be considered for the league table, a company's sales or profits must be growing at a minimum of 5pc/yr. Argus' sales for the 2016-17 financial year increased by 20pc from a year earlier to £169.8mn, 90pc of which came from outside the UK.
Argus Media Group chairman and chief executive Adrian Binks said: "In the last financial year, we have extended our international reach, expanded our range of products and worked with industry participants to ensure that our price assessments, conferences and consulting services more than meet their ever-changing needs. This has yet again been reflected in our financial performance."
