LONDON, Oct. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Global energy and commodity price reporting agency Argus Media has been listed in the annual "Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250" for the first time. The league table, published today in the Sunday Times, ranks the UK's private-sector mid-market growth companies with the biggest sales.
Argus is in 12th place in the rankings in terms of profitability. Overall, Argus made a profit of £32.3mn for the 2014-15 financial year ending 30 June 2015, ranking it in 35th place in the table in terms of total profit. Argus ranks 227th in the table on the basis of revenue. To be considered for the league table, companies' sales or profits must be growing by a minimum of 5pc/yr. Argus' sales for the 2014-15 financial year grew by 15pc from a year earlier to £124.4mn.
Argus was also recognised as a leading exporter in the "Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200", which was published in July. Almost 90pc of Argus' sales are made outside the UK.
Argus Media executive chairman and publisher Adrian Binks said: "Our business continues to grow strongly as we launch new services for the commodity industry, develop existing products and innovate to create better delivery options and tools for our customers."
Global growth equity firm General Atlantic completed a deal on 30 September to buy a majority stake in Argus, in an investment that values the company at nearly £1bn. The strategic partnership will fuel the next phase of global expansion.
