Argos Therapeutics to Present Corporate Overview and Next Steps in Clinical Development of Arcelis™ Immunotherapy at Needham & Company 10th Annual Healthcare Conference and Leerink Swann Cancer Roundtable Conference

DURHAM, N.C., April 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Argos Therapeutics today announced that Jeff Abbey, the company's president and chief executive officer, will present a corporate overview and the next steps in the clinical development of Argos' Arcelis™ immunotherapy at the Needham & Company 10th Annual Healthcare Conference at 1:20 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, April 6, at The New York Palace Hotel. Mr. Abbey will also participate in a cancer immunotherapy panel at 8 a.m. EDT, as well as present a corporate overview at 4:10 p.m. EDT at the Leerink Swann Cancer Roundtable Conference on Thursday, April 7, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.

Argos is in the process of securing funding to begin a Phase 3 trial in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) with its Arcelis immunotherapy, AGS-003, in mid-2011. The company has presented favorable progression-free survival and safety results from an ongoing Phase 2 trial for AGS-003 in combination with sunitinib. Argos' Arcelis HIV program, AGS-004, is also currently being tested in a double-blind, placebo controlled, randomized Phase 2b study co-funded by the NIH to further demonstrate that it is a feasible treatment option for HIV-1 infected patients. In addition, Argos has initiated dosing of patients in a Phase 1 clinical trial of its monoclonal antibody-based therapy, AGS-009, for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Arcelis is Argos' proprietary technology for personalizing RNA-loaded dendritic cell immunotherapies for cancer, HIV and other infectious diseases.
