Architectural Record's October Covers Feature Frank Gehry's New Museums, Photographed by Iwan Baan
NEW YORK, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The October 2014 issue of McGraw Hill Construction's Architectural Record (http://www.architecturalrecord.com) features a unique "split run" cover highlighting two new museums designed by celebrated architect Frank Gehry. The Fondation Louis Vuitton museum in Paris, France and the Biomuseo in Panama City, Panama will appear on alternate covers of the magazine.
Both cover images are the work of Architectural Record contributing photographer Iwan Baan, renowned for his evocative architecture photography and his work documenting the impact of Hurricane Sandy on New York City.
"Frank Gehry's new museums are very different, but they each have a compelling story about their design and construction, which we explore in our October issue. Fondation Louis Vuitton is an amazing composition of huge curving glass canopies wrapped around a white-paneled structure, which looks both grounded and about to take flight. The Biomuseo is a small, plucky concrete building with a vibrant roof of brightly colored angled metal, designed for an institution devoted to the biodiversity of that tropical region. We are proud to depict Gehry's work as viewed through the lens of Iwan Baan, one of the best architecture photographers working today," said Cathleen McGuigan, editor-in-chief, Architectural Record.
Essential to the profession for over 120 years, Architectural Record's magazine and website provide industry news and analysis, as well as coverage of design trends, building science, and professional strategies for architects and design professionals.
