CHICAGO, Sept. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Archdiocese of Chicago today named Grant Gallicho as its director of publications and media, a new position, effective November 1, 2015. In his new role, Gallicho will review the Archdiocese's publications strategy and manage its print and digital properties. A Chicago native, Gallicho is currently an associate editor of Commonweal, the oldest independent lay-run Catholic journal of opinion in the United States.

Gallicho joined Commonweal in 2000, where he launched the magazine's award-winning blog and oversaw the redesign of the print magazine and multiple updates of its website. He has written and edited features, investigative articles, reviews, editorials, and interviews.
In addition to his work in Commonweal, Gallicho, a member of the Religion Newswriters Association, has been published in America, the National Catholic Reporter, The Tablet of London, El Ciervo of Spain, Religion Dispatches, Religion News Service, The New York Observer, The New York Times and elsewhere.
He covered the 2013 conclave for the Diocese of Brooklyn's daily TV news program, Currents. He has also been a regular contributor and guest host on that diocese's national radio and television current events show, In the Arena.
Gallicho attended grammar school at St. Paul of the Cross School in Park Ridge, Illinois, and graduated from Notre Dame College Prep in Niles, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and English from Fordham University, New York, New York, in 1998, and a Master of Arts degree in Theology from the University of Chicago in 2000.
