Diane Bertok, project environmental scientist, received the firm's annual Dr. Paul L. Busch Prize for her achievements in managing a large portfolio of energy projects, mentoring co-workers, exceeding client expectations, and contributing selflessly to local and national charitable organizations.
"Diane distinguished herself with high-impact achievements across all of the award criteria," said Doug Owen, chief technical officer of Malcolm Pirnie, the Water Division of ARCADIS U. S. "I am humbled by her incredible accomplishments and am grateful to work by her side to help solve our clients' complex challenges."
Willow Hetrick, staff scientist, received the ARCADIS Chairman's Health & Safety Leadership Award for her dedication to the company's health and safety protocols that benefit the firm and its clients.
"Unblinking focus on the health and safety of our staff, our clients, and their employees is a core value at ARCADIS," said Mija Coppola, corporate director for Health & Safety at ARCADIS U.S. "Willow's ability to recognize potential hazards and safety issues and to communicate them clearly to others is instrumental in avoiding unsafe working conditions."
Three project teams were honored with the ARCADIS Chairman's Team Health & Safety Award for their proactive work to identify and eliminate potential worksite hazards using innovative methods. Each project presented its own heath and safety challenges, including extensive confined space entry work on a military institution, hazardous substance remediation work in a residential and commercial area, and deep excavation work around concentrated underground utilities on an oil and gas terminal site. To successfully mitigate potentially hazardous conditions, the project teams worked collaboratively with all parties involved, planning ahead, identifying safety issues, and working collaboratively with our clients to complete the jobs safely.
"ARCADIS has a culture of professionalism, collaboration and strong beliefs in the value of safety in our business operations," said Steve Blake, chief executive officer for ARCADIS U.S. "I'm proud to work with a team that is committed to ensuring safety on the job every day, on every project, for every client."
