Arborwell Honored By Tree Care Industry Association For Outstanding Achievements In Safety
California Tree Management Company receives a 2013 Safety Award from TCIA
HAYWARD, Calif., Feb. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Arborwell, California's leading tree care company is proud to announce they have been awarded for numerous accomplishments in safety by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA). For more than 20 years, TCIA has been honoring tree care companies across the country for their success in various areas of their business operations.
Arborwell was honored with two 2013 Outstanding Company Contribution Awards for Safety, the first of which was for the development of the company's new Internal Marketing Program. The purpose of the program is to publicly honor employees for their accomplishments with the goal of continuing to cultivate a culture of safety and mutually beneficial relationships between Arborwell and its employees. Posters celebrating individuals who have excelled in company training sessions, earned professional certification, and/or have gone above and beyond their job roles are created on a quarterly basis and displayed in all seven yards across California, as well as in Arborwell's corporate office.
The second 2013 Outstanding Company Contribution Award for Safety was awarded to Kris Yamaguchi, Arborwell's San Jose Regional Manager, who came up with a special calendar to motivate his field crews and remind them of the importance of safety on a daily basis. He sent all of his field employees home with an assignment to give to their children – the project was to draw a picture of their fathers performing their jobs safely. Kids were rewarded with prizes when they submitted entries. The result was a collection of adorable and moving illustrations that really made the message hit home: you are being safe at work for your family. Yamaguchi then decided to not only display the illustrations on large poster boards in the San Jose yard, but to immortalize them in calendars for all Arborwell employees.
Arborwell employee Jairo Salgado was awarded with a 2013 Outstanding Individual/CREW Performance Award for Safety. On August 30, 2013 an Arborwell climber was seriously injured as a result of a fall from a palm tree. According to statements made by the injured climber, the response of his fellow crew members saved his life. By all accounts, crew leader Jairo Salgado's emergency response training kicked in – he expertly handled the crisis by activating EMS, keeping the victim calm, alert, and awake. According to EMT's and the victim, Salgado's response to the emergency saved the climber's life.
