Arbitration Expert M. Alexis Maniatis Elected as Chairman of The Brattle Group
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brattle Group, a global provider of consulting and expert testimony in economics, finance, and regulation, is pleased to announce that principal M. Alexis Maniatis has been elected as chairman of the firm. Mr. Maniatis will succeed current chairman, principal Paul Carpenter, as of January 1, 2011. The transition, which was approved by the firm's Board of Directors in early December, was formally announced today by Brattle President Matthew O'Loughlin.
Mr. Maniatis, who is based in the Washington, DC office, joined The Brattle Group in 1991 as an associate. He currently leads the firm's arbitration practice, and most recently served as president and chief operating officer of the firm from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that appointment, he served as director of the firm's Washington and London offices and leader of the litigation practice.

Mr. Maniatis is a recognized expert in commercial arbitration. He has twenty years of experience providing consulting and expert witness testimony and advising clients on valuation issues in royalty disputes, expropriations, refining and reserve asset transactions, regulatory proceedings, and contract disputes. He has testified on behalf of and advised clients in numerous cases before tribunals at the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, the ICC International Court of Arbitration, and the Permanent Court of Arbitration involving businesses in Asia, Europe, Latin America, the United States, and Canada. He holds an MBA from Yale University and a B.A. from Wesleyan University, and was recently named as a leading expert witness by Global Arbitration Review and featured in the International Who's Who of Commercial Arbitration 2011.
