NEW YORK, Nov. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AquaFence announced today its innovative flood protection system has been awarded FM Approval, a high level certification from a leading worldwide independent product testing and certification lab. Developed in Norway, AquaFence flood barriers have been successfully deployed in seven countries across three continents. The AquaFence technology has been tested by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and achieved Level 2 Platinum recognition under the U.S. National Flood Barrier Testing and Certification Program.

"We are very proud to receive FM Approval, further proof that AquaFence is among the best flood protection systems available," said Helge Kroegenes, President and Co-founder of AquaFence.
"Natural disasters can be devastating to communities, but prevention is possible. An investment in a flood protection system can save property owners hundreds of thousands – or even millions – of dollars in recovery and repair work," said Adam Goldberg, AquaFence's Director of New York Operations.
Industrial and commercial companies around the world rely on products and services that are FM Approved and specification tested to protect their properties from loss.
AquaFence has been in use worldwide for almost a decade, but most recently, 20 commercial and residential property owners in New York City whose buildings were flooded during Hurricane Sandy have purchased AquaFence systems to protect their buildings from future storms.
The AquaFence system often requires no structural changes of any kind to buildings, and is easy to install and take down in a matter of hours. It can be stored out of sight, and deployed with minimal manpower prior to storm surge. The only tool required for set up is a common hand drill. Each AquaFence panel is equivalent to 500 sand bags.
The AquaFence flood protection system is made from marine-grade panels, aluminum, stainless steel, and PVC. The units use water as a stabilizer, so, as water rises against the wall, the system actually becomes stronger and less permeable.
