Google[x] veteran brings unparalleled enterprise smart glasses expertise to the industry frontrunner
WASHINGTON, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- APX Labs, the developer of the Skylight platform for enterprise smart glasses solutions, today announced that Eric Johnsen has joined APX Labs as Vice President of Business Development. Johnsen is an industry recognized smart glasses expert, focused on building enterprise ecosystems during his most recent role as the head of Google's Glass at Work program. In his new role, he will put this experience to work for APX Labs to further the company's mission of bringing wearables to the workforce.
"The enterprise wearable market opportunity is accelerating and APX Labs is entering an exciting new phase of growth," said CEO and co-founder Brian Ballard. Eric is respected across the wearable community as a pioneer in solving real business problems with smart glasses. We are excited to now have him as part of the APX Labs team."
Prior to joining APX Labs, Johnsen led a trailblazing role within Google[x]. There, he directed the creation of Google's Glass at Work program, helping to successfully commercialize and drive broad adoption of enterprise wearable technology.
"Having created the Glass at Work program, I see this as an opportunity to continue one of my proudest accomplishments and seize the chance to see it in action in the trenches," said Johnsen. "I have such an admiration for the Glass team; it will be fun to watch them continue to grow."
Before starting Glass at Work, Eric was a channel development manager for Google Enterprise and a founding member of the team that built the Google Apps resale and integrator channel in the US and APAC regions, growing the program from inception to $500 million in global revenue (now more than $1 billion).
Johnsen brings deep technical knowledge, market visibility and experience building enterprise ecosystems to APX Labs at a critical tipping point for enterprise wearables. As Vice President of Business Development, Johnsen will lead efforts to expand APX Labs' partnerships across the Skylight ecosystem while working closely with customers to identify opportunities to drive meaningful returns on their technology investments.
"Eric is going to do what he does best: leverage Skylight to bring together developer and integrator partners with customers who want to solve large-scale business problems with smart glasses," said Ballard.
