APS Healthcare Subsidiary Reaches Settlement with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Georgia Medicaid Contract

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Feb. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Innovative Resource Group, LLC (IRG), a subsidiary of APS Healthcare, announced today it has entered into a settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the Department of Justice, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and the State of Georgia.  In accordance with the settlement, IRG will pay $13 million regarding a contract administered by IRG while it served as a disease management provider to Georgia's Medicaid program from 2007 to early 2009.  IRG also entered into a Corporate Integrity Agreement, as is typical of settlements with the OIG.

"This disagreement centered around a lack of clarity in certain provisions of the original contract and it is for that reason we strongly deny the allegations made against IRG," said Greg Scott, chief executive officer for APS Healthcare.  "We had notified the Georgia Medicaid program of these ambiguities long before the case was filed, and had proactively worked to clarify and address them.  At all times we operated within the terms of the contract. Despite these challenges, we are proud that we accomplished many of the goals of the program and provided valuable disease management services to the State of Georgia's most needy citizens.  In doing so, we significantly improved the health status of many participants in the program."
