NEW YORK, Jan. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AppNexus, the world leader in real-time advertising technology, announced today that it has named Bruce Cooperman, a seasoned finance executive, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Cooperman is one of the latest AppNexus hires to make the transition to ad technology from Wall Street; some 25 percent of the company's new hires in 2011 had significant professional experience in the finance and securities industries. Cooperman's background in financial exchanges makes him a natural fit with AppNexus, which helps companies bid on the major ad exchanges, as well as build their own private ad exchanges. Both financial exchanges and ad exchanges rely on sophisticated back-end technology and manage high-volume, real-time global transactions.
"AppNexus operates a global ad platform with billions of impressions and millions of dollars transacted every day. We searched for more than two years for a CFO with the analytical and operational expertise to keep up with our accelerating growth. Bruce's vast experience on Wall Street, especially as CFO of the International Securities Exchange, makes him a perfect fit as we take AppNexus to the next stage," said AppNexus CEO Brian O'Kelley.
Prior to joining AppNexus, Cooperman served as CFO of the International Securities Exchange (ISE), LLC and ISE Holdings for more than 10 years, seeing the organization through its founding, initial public offering, and the 2007 merger with Eurex, one of the world's leading derivatives exchanges. From 1997 to 1999 Cooperman was Senior Vice President for the Board of Trade of the City of New York (NYBOT,) and CFO of the New York Cotton Exchange (a subsidiary of NYBOT) where he pioneered development of an electronic marketplace for trading U.S. Treasury futures contracts. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he earned a dual degree in Accounting and Computer Science.
"AppNexus is an incredibly exciting and high-growth company that is transforming the advertising industry, and I'm proud to be a part of it. With its energetic culture, massive financial potential, and a strong and experienced management team, I know AppNexus is poised for even more success moving forward," said Cooperman.
AppNexus experienced unprecedented growth in 2011. The number of impressions served on the AppNexus platform increased 859 percent year-over-year*. In addition, AppNexus more than doubled its employee base and opened offices in Seattle, London and Tel Aviv. The New York-based technology company is poised for an equally impressive 2012, with aggressive hiring across multiple businesses, a planned expansion of its New York headquarters, and new global offices slated to open.
