AppNexus Makes Key Additions To Its Executive Team For 2015
--Company announces three senior appointments on the heels of a record-breaking year marked by profitability and growth--
NEW YORK, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AppNexus Inc., the world's largest independent ad tech company, today announced the appointment of key executives, including Jason Lynn as Senior Vice President of Product in the Programmatic Media Companies business unit; Marcus Startzel as Chief Revenue Officer for the Agencies and Advertisers business unit; and Joshua Zeitz as Vice President of Corporate Communications. Each executive brings critical experience to AppNexus as the company builds on a record-breaking year that included three consecutive quarters of profitability and approximately $200 million in three successful strategic acquisitions.
Michael Rubenstein, President of AppNexus, said, "These executive appointments reflect AppNexus's commitment to building exceptionally strong leadership teams within our newly-formed business units, while also strengthening our central corporate function. It's a great credit to the company's outlook that world-class executives are choosing to build their careers at AppNexus."
Last month, the company announced the formation of four new individual business units: Publishers, Programmatic Media Companies (PMC), Agencies and Advertisers (A&A), and Marketplaces. The move allows the company to operate several market-leading businesses simultaneously and to lend each the agility, resources, and focus needed to capitalize on new growth opportunities in 2015 and beyond.
Jason Lynn, Senior Vice President Product for the PMC business unit, brings deep experience in audience segmentation, mobile and desktop data management, predictive analytics and ad systems. He was most recently co-founder of mParticle, a mobile data management company backed by Google Ventures, Greylock and Battery Ventures. Prior to his role at mParticle, Jason was Chief Strategy Officer for interclick, which grew from $10 million to $100 million in revenue in less than 36 months and was sold to Yahoo! for $270 million in 2011.
"Jason's impressive ability to innovate in analytics, data, and segmentation will provide tremendous value to our PMC clients," said Casey Birtwell, Senior Vice President and General Manager of PMC. "We're thrilled to welcome him to the product team."
Marcus Startzel, Chief Revenue Officer for the Agencies and Advertisers business unit, joined the company following its recent acquisition of MediaGlu, a leading cross-device technology business, where he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to MediaGlu, Startzel was General Manager of North America and Global Chief Revenue Officer for Millennial Media. He has also served as Vice President of Sales at AOL Advertising.
Joshua Zeitz, who will lead AppNexus's global communications strategy, has held senior policy, communications and speechwriting positions in both the private and public sectors. He was most recently Deputy Director of the Corporate Communications Practice at MWW, a top-ten independent public relations firm, where he managed corporate reputation campaigns for clients from across multiple industry verticals. From 2008-2010 he was Senior Policy Advisor to Governor Jon S. Corzine of New Jersey.
