Latest enhancement to AppNeta Performance Manager gives far greater context into network routing across multiple locations and multiple applications, helping IT pinpoint ownership of performance degradations
BOSTON, March 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- AppNeta, the leader in actionable, end-to-end network performance monitoring, today announces the launch of BGP monitoring for Multi-Path Route Visualization as a core feature within the AppNeta Performance Manager. AppNeta's Route Visualization combines BGP Autonomous System data with hop-by-hop details to rapidly identify ISPs and transit carriers. This empowers IT with the detailed, end-to-end visibility across their network delivery paths they need to identify the root cause of performance degradations across the globe.
AppNeta Performance Manager has always allowed customers to see the hops along network paths between users and business-critical SaaS or web apps. BGP data gives more context around what networks those hops actually belong to. Routes can be observed with ISP aggregation to show peering and handoffs between ISPs and network owners, allowing IT to more quickly identify the ownership of a degraded hop.
BGP Monitoring tracks the Layer 3 hops and Autonomous System networks that are traversed between end users and business-critical applications, helping enterprise IT visualize dynamic network environments and isolate commonalities between specific apps, locations, or even large regions. AppNeta's powerful search capability allows instant comparison of routing across many locations and multiple applications so IT can quickly isolate what apps are affected and what routers and networks they have in common.
BGP information is automatically collected and applied to the route visualization data already being collected by AppNeta Performance Manager. When users log into the platform and select specific paths from the Delivery Network Path page they can see the routes their apps are taking with BGP context from source to destination.
All of this helps enterprise IT and network operations teams identify:
- Which carriers are delivering applications end-to-end, and are carrier changes affecting user experience?
- Is SD-WAN traffic performing better with one carrier versus another?
- Are routes changing during an incident?
- Is there any routing in common between apps or remote offices experiencing problems in multiple locations?
"AppNeta's automatic ISP identification has been a hallmark of our platform for years, but our enterprise customers require knowledge about detailed link ownership and the associated multi-protocol routing characteristics beyond just the last mile," said Matt Stevens, CEO of AppNeta. "Through continuous BGP metadata enrichment, our new Multi-path Visualization empowers customers to instantly understand the big routing picture across their end-to-end WAN and, most importantly, the how, when, and where of WAN performance as it impacts the remote office end user experience."
